Farmers in West Sumbawa, who participate in risk insurance for rice farming, have been confirmed not to lose

BigBussiness – It is certain that farmers in West Sumbawa will not suffer losses because they have already participated in Rice Farmers Business Insurance (AUTP). The planted area in this area has also increased, from the original 337.59 hectares to 450.17 hectares.

Minister of Agriculture (Mentan), Syahrul Yasin Limpo said, by using AUTP, farmers can do their activities in peace.

“The threat of crop failure is certainly a very serious problem. We do not want this to happen, because farmers can be made more difficult. To that end, the Ministry of Agriculture encourages farmers to insure their land to avoid losses,” he said, Jakarta, Saturday (10 / 10/2020).

Meanwhile, the Director General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities (PSP) in the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), Sarwo Edhy, said that the insurance will protect the country against various disturbances that cause crop failure.

“Insurance is part of disaster relief that can cause crop failure. The threats include drought, floods, pest infestations, extreme weather and others, “he said.

Sarwo added, in order to get insurance protection, farmers can join farmer groups.

“In farmer groups, there is a lot of information about insurance that can be obtained. Apart from that, it is also faster and easier to process to register for insurance through farmer groups,” he explained.

Meanwhile, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Kadistan, through the head of food crops, Syaiful Ulum, said that the threat of crop failure arises in the dry season.

“We predict that agricultural land that is experiencing crop failure will continue to grow,” he said.
