BigBussiness – Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto emphasized that the budget funds for national economic recovery (PEN) will be optimized.
One of the optimizations that was made, Airlangga said, was to reduce the health budget for handling the Covid-19 pandemic.
He explained that the original health budget was 87.5 trillion, now it has been reduced to 72.73 trillion.
“Of course, it is also expected to optimize the economic improvement, namely the completion of an additional budget from Rp. 87.5 trillion to Rp. 72.73 trillion,” Airlangga said at a virtual press conference on Wednesday (26/8/2020).
According to Airlangga, the reduction in the health budget will be diverted to other programs.
However, the former Minister of Trade and Industry did not want to specify the program to be launched.
“There are shifts in social protection and will monitor these shifts and will propose new programs,” Airlangga said.
The decline in the health budget is inversely proportional to the positive cases of Covid-19 in Indonesia, which are still increasing per day.
The increase in the number of Indonesian corona patients on Wednesday (26/8/2020) afternoon alone reached 2,306 people.
In this way, the number of corona-positive patients in Indonesia currently reaches 160,165 people.
